A doula is a woman trained and experienced

What is Support?
"Support is unconditional.
It is listening…
not judging, not telling your own story.
Support is not offering advice…
it is offering a handkerchief, a touch, a hug…caring.
We are here to help women discover what they are feeling…
not to make the feelings go away.
We are here to help a women identify her options…
not tell her which options to choose.
We are here to discuss steps with a woman…
not to take the steps for her.
We are here to help a woman discover her own strength…
not to rescue her and leave her still vulnerable.
We are here to help a woman discover she can help herself…
not to take that responsibility for her.
We are here to help a woman learn to choose…
not to make it unnecessary for her to make difficult choices."

"The Mongan Method"
Taking
the Birthing World by Calm
HypnoBirthing® teaches a woman and
her birth companions techniques for a safe and satisfying birthing
through guided imagery, visualization, positive affirmations, and
special breathing.
The birthing mother will learn how to call upon
her body’s own natural relaxant and thus lessen or even eliminate
discomfort and the need for medication.
When a woman is properly prepared for childbirth
and when her mind, body and baby are in harmony, nature is free
to function in the same well designed manner that it does with all
other creatures.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally induced state of relaxed
concentration-a state of mind and body in which we communicate suggestions
to our subconscious mind. This part of our mind influences what
we think, how we feel, and the choices we make.
There is no magic to achieving success with self-hypnosis.
Almost anyone who chooses to can reach deep relaxation and redirected
focus.
When having your baby with HypnoBirthing®, what
you will experience is similar to daydreaming or focusing that occurs
when you are engrossed in a book or staring at a fire. You will
be conversant and in good spirits-totally relaxed, but fully in
control. You will be aware of your body’s contractions but
will be able to determine the extent to which you feel the surge.
You will experience your birthing in an atmosphere of calm and relaxation,
without fear and tension that cause pain. Your body’s natural relaxant (endorphins) will replace the stress hormones that create
pain.
When it is time for your baby to be born, you will
be fully awake and involved.

Infant
Massage Classes are designed to teach the new parent
how to gently interact and massage the newborn or growing
child. Infant Massage helps newborns, especially special need
babies, with weight gain, brain stimulation, body awareness,
relaxation, communication and the ability to be comforted.
It also helps with colicky children and improves sleeping
patterns. For the parent, it helps them learn to bond, communicate,
and be patient and more aware of the child’s needs and
communication skills. The program can be based on your needs
as an individual family or as a larger classroom environment.
Whether your baby is a newborn, several years old, or has
special needs, massage can bring immediate and lasting results.
Understanding and beginning touch early in life can improve
the quality of parenting and family life and promote the well-being
of the infant.
Expected parents often take infant massage classes in advance
so they are ready to begin this wonderful loving touch right
from the start.
Benefits
of Infant Massage
- Enhances communication, bonding and love
between parents and baby
- Increases confidence and helps parents to better understand
infant needs and cues
- Increase in weight gain and nutrient absorption

another

"We speak of something being "touching",
implying a close link between touch and the emotional reactions
of the heart. It's more than a metaphor--our skin does speak
to our hearts. And our hearts respond."
